Danny Duffy struck out 11 batters in the Royals’ 5–4 win in Atlanta Tuesday night. It was Kansas City’s first trip to Atlanta since 2013 and their first game at SunTrust Park.
It was Duffy’s sixth career double-digit strikeout game, which ranks seventh in Royals history behind six right-handed pitchers: Kevin Appier (21), Zack Greinke (9), Bret Saberhagen (8), Mark Gubicza (8), Tom Gordon (8) and Dennis Leonard (7).
Duffy’s 11 strikeouts (in 6.0 IP) match the second most by a Royal in an Interleague game, trailing only Zack Greinke’s 12 strikeouts in 9.
