On May 10 at Yankee Stadium, Lorenzo Cain went 3-for-5 with three home runs and a career-high five RBI, becoming the seventh player (10th time) in Royals history to record three homers in one game.
In doing so, Cain became just the second visiting player to record a three-homer game at new Yankee Stadium, joining Detroit’s J.D. Martinez.
Of the nine opposing players to record a three-home run game at Yankee Stadium (old or new), three are Royals. In addition to Cain, Bo Jackson did it on July 17, 1990, as did George Brett in Game 3 of the 1978 ALCS.
