DETROIT
The road woes continue.
Reliever Joakim Soria surrendered a two-run, walk-off homer to Detroit’s Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the ninth inning on Sunday as the Royals suffered a 4-2 loss at Comerica Park.
The Royals squandered a 2-0 lead in the early innings. Soria continued his season-long struggles in high-leverage situations.
Kansas City dropped to 46-45 entering a key home stand at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals will begin a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians on Monday night.
The Royals opened the scoring in the top of the second, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double from third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert.
