The Kansas City Royals hit three home runs on offense and worked around plenty of baserunners from the Minnesota Twins as the Royals won 6-1 at Target Field tonight.
Lugo labored early on. The Twins channeled their inner Joe Mauers in the first inning with a couple opposite-field singles, but Lugo managed to escape the inning unscathed. They made him work, however, as he needed 24 pitches to escape the inning. Minnesota would break through in the second. Willi Castro hit a one-out double just out of reach of a diving Nick Loftin and then moved to third when Carlos Santana hit a flare that dropped in shallow center field.
