The Seattle Mariners haven’t made the playoffs since 2001. It’s not for lack of winning. Sure they’ve had some bad seasons, but they’ve also won 90 or more games three times since their last postseason trip and didn’t make it. They’ve finished above .500 eight times since their last postseason trip and didn’t make it. And now, there’s a chance that they’ll finish as the sixth seed in the American League, which means it will have taken a new collective bargaining agreement to add an extra playoff team for them to make it. But I don’t think they’ll argue with the games they’ll get to play.
