KANSAS CITY -- Royals catcher Salvador Perez joined elite company in franchise history when he belted his 20th home run of the season on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
In the bottom of the first inning, Perez jumped on a 1-0 fastball from right-hander Marco Estrada and drilled it into the left-center-field seats. The two-run home run gave the Royals an early 2-0 lead.
Perez now has hit 20 or more home runs in four consecutive seasons, becoming just the fifth Royal in club history to do so.
