With rain in the forecast, the Royals’ window to get a win and leave Kansas City with a 3-1 series win over Toronto was small. Salvador Perez creaked it open before Kyle Isbel slammed it shut right as the rain came to end a five-inning 2-1 Royals win.
Kansas City improves to 16-10 while the struggling Blue Jays fall to .500. It also marks the Royals’ first five-inning win since July of 2005.
The last time the Royals had a game shortened to just five innings due to weather was a July 18, 2005 loss to the Indians in Cleveland.
