Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., and ESPN announced the 2016 Gold Glove Award winners on Tuesday night. For the fourth straight season, Royals’ catcher Salvador Perez took home the hardware, marking his fourth straight Gold Glove Award.
Perez is just the third Royal to win four straight Gold Glove Awards, joining Alex Gordon (2011–14) and Frank White (five straight from 1977–82). He’s also the first American League catcher to win four straight Gold Gloves since Ivan Rodriguez won 10 straight from 1992–2001.
Salvy led American League catchers this season in games played (128) for the third straight year.
