The Royals’ offense is still missing in action, but against an ace like Yu Darvish they still stuck to their identity as scrappers and scrapers and managed to drag a 4-3 victory into the light of the sun.

Things starts off on the wrong foot when Ian Kennedy labored through the first with 25 pitches though the only base-runner he allowed was a walk. It’s a testament to his pitch count recovery that he eventually ended up pitching into the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the first the Royals offense tried to pay him back for his perseverance.
