The Royals have traded right-handed pitcher Miguel Almonte to the Angels for cash considerations. The team had designated him for assignment earlier this week to make room for outfielder Abraham Almonte, who they had claimed off waivers from the Indians. Miguel was the 12th-ranked prospect in the system according to MLB Pipeline and posted a 1.72 ERA in 47 innings across AA and AAA last year. The 25-year old features a mid-90s fastball with a good change up and was coming off an impressive spring training with the Royals. Miguel was battling shoulder soreness that would have landed him on the disabled list to begin the year.
