KANSAS CITY -- The Royals will wear a specialized uniform with "Los Reales" on the front for their game on July 25 against the Houston Astros.
Catching coach Pedro Grifol said that while the translation for "Los Reales" is Royals, it also can mean "regal" or "real."
"But what's nice is that there is a Spanish name for Royals," Grifol said, "which is unlike other teams, like the Yankees, which in the Latin culture is just 'Yankees.'"
Catcher Salvador Perez modeled the new uniform on Tuesday before the series opener against the Indians.
"There are a lot of Latin players and great Latin players in the game," Perez said.
