Nelson Velázquez hit a two-run triple in the ninth inning and scored the game-winning run on a walk off sacrifice fly by Nick Loftin as the Royals salvaged the game and the series with a 4-3 win over the Padres Sunday afternoon.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Royals put the first run of the game on the board in the fourth. Maikel Garcia led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a single by Bobby Witt Jr. Vinnie Pasquantino lofted a fly ball for an RBI sacrifice fly, his eighth of the year to lead all of baseball.
