The Royals have signed starting pitcher Clay Buchholz to a minor league deal, according to USA Today reporter Bob Nightengale.
The Royals have agreed to terms on a minor-league deal with former Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz. The deal features a May 1 opt-out if he’s not on the 25-man roster.

The 33-year old right-hander has won 81 games in 11 big league seasons, mostly with the Red Sox. Last year was his first away from Boston and he pitched just 7 1⁄3 innings with the Phillies due to a torn flexor tendon in his right arm.
