The bad news on the injury front continues for the Royals.
The team on Wednesday recalled right-hander Kris Medlen from a minor-league injury rehab assignment after he suffered a right shoulder strain during a game Tuesday with Class AAA Omaha.
Medlen, who was 1-3 with a 7.77 ERA in six starts for the Royals this season, will be re-evaluated Wednesday, the team said. Medlen, 30, has made five starts on his rehab assignment, and has a 5.50 ERA. That includes two games at Class AA Northwest Arkansas and three games with the Storm Chasers.
Medlen was placed on the disabled list on May 12 with right rotator cuff inflammation.
