Right hander Jonathan Bowlan threw a 9.0-inning no hitter Monday night in Advanced-A Wilmington’s 3–0 win vs. Carolina. He struck out nine and walked none, and threw 63 of his 98 pitches for strikes. The only base runner reached on a throwing error in the second inning.
It was the second no-hitter in franchise history and first since May 2, 2000, when former Major League pitcher Brian Sanches did it against Lynchburg.
According to Curt Nelson, Director of Royals Hall of Fame, Bowlan’s no-hitter came on the anniversary of Dennis Leonard’s no-hitter for Class-A Waterloo of the Midwest League in 1972.
