Billy Burns is joining his new ballclub. The Royals recalled the outfielder from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, where Burns had been since he was acquired from the A's in a trade for Brett Eibner on Saturday.
The 26-year-old switch hitter batted .234 in 73 games this season with Oakland, with four triples and 14 stolen bases, which tie him for ninth in the American League. Burns will wear No. 14 for the Royals.
To make room for Burns, Kansas City optioned right-hander Brooks Pounders to Triple-A. The 25-year-old is 1-1 with a 13.
