SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals have agreed to a contract extension with catcher Salvador Perez that will keep him through the 2021 season, the club announced.
The deal, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, is a five-year extension worth $52.5 million.
The deal, which picks up the club options for three years starting in 2017, adds two more years after that. It also comes with a $6 million signing bonus.
Royals general manager Dayton Moore is expected to address the extension later this morning.
