When the 2014/2015 off-season began, the Kansas City Royals saw three big holes they had to fill on their team. They needed a starting pitcher to replace the departed James Shields, they needed a designated hitter to replace the departed Billy Butler and they needed a right fielder to replace the departed Nori Aoki.
As you know, they picked up Edinson Volquez, Kendrys Morales and Alex Rios for those three roles. Volquez and Morales have been better than expected, and I actually thought they’d be pretty good for the Royals.
