The 4-0 victory for NW Arkansas allowed the Travelers to notch their first win of the Texas League Championship series which they trail two games to one. Josh Staumont pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.
The results are great. But, Staumont’s improved control is what really matters. He has struggled to throw the ball over the plate his entire career. He’s finally throwing consistent strikes at age 22 after his promotion to AA.
His improved control is only a recent phenomenon. He’s allowed 10 walks in his last 34.
