Royals lose heartbreaker to Tigers 7-6

When it became a bullpen game, the advantage seemingly swung to the Royals, especially with Wade Davis back on the roster.

It didn’t turn out that way.

The Tigers rocked Royals closer Wade Davis in his first game back from the disable list for two runs in the ninth inning and claimed a 7-6 victory before 25,008 at Kauffman Stadium on Friday.

In a game with wild momentum shifts and missed opportunities, the Tigers succeeded in pushing the Royals farther back in the playoff chance while advancing their own cause.

The Royals fell to 69-65, losing ground in the Central Division and the wild card chase.
