The Royals have found their second baseman.
Raul Mondesi has won the club's second-base competition after hitting .378 with two doubles and three home runs in 19 Cactus Leagues games. Whit Merrifield and Christian Colon will continue to compete for an Opening Day roster spot as a reserve.
Merrifield, who played 81 games with the Royals last season, is hitting .278 in 26 games this spring. Colon, who has spent parts of the past three seasons with Kansas City, is batting .286 in 22 Cactus League games.
