DETROIT – A lackluster road trip ended in fitting fashion for Kansas City when Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler smacked a two-run shot off reliever Ryan Madson in the ninth inning of an 8-6 Royals loss.
The Royals had previously erased a three-run deficit in the seventh. After Drew Butera hit his first home run since Aug. 4, 2014, Kendrys Morales tied the game with a two-run double. But the team left the bases loaded in the ninth when Mike Moustakas hit an infield pop-up.
The day did not begin well for Kansas City (63-44). The puzzling second season of Yordano Ventura reached its fifth month this week, and the problems from April remain the same here in August.
