The Royals improved by 30 wins last year, making a surprise post-season run. Today, they ensured that the men who led that turnaround will stay in Kansas City for awhile.
The team announced today they have signed General Manager J.J. Picollo to a contract extension through 2030 with a club option for 2031. Picollo was named general manager in September of 2021 and took over player personnel decisions when the Royals dismissed Moore a year later in 2022. He brought in manager Matt Quatraro from the Rays and implemented a more analytics-oriented approach to roster building and player development.
