Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer missed a start in Friday night’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Stadium to attend to an undisclosed family matter.
Hosmer, though, arrived before first pitch and pinch hit for Ramon Torres in the fourth inning and then came on to play first base in the top of the fifth inning. Brandon Moss started at Hosmer’s usual spot and was shifted to right field upon his arrival.
“I was just going for one day,” said Hosmer who went 1 for 3. “If you’re going to go on bereavement list it’s going to take a couple days.
