The Royals designated Omar Infante for assignment on Wednesday, ending the second baseman's disappointing tenure with Kansas City.
Infante, who signed a four-year, $30 million deal before the 2014 season, hit just .238 in parts of three injury-riddled seasons with the Royals. The club is still responsible for his remaining salary this season, the $10 million owned to him in 2017 and a $2 million buyout for '18.
