Seventeen days after sustaining an oblique strain, Royals starter Danny Duffy is slightly ahead of schedule in his rehab, manager Ned Yost said.
Duffy, who is in Kansas City and did not join the team on this road trip, threw a 20-pitch bullpen session at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday. He is scheduled to throw again on Friday, Yost said.
Duffy was expected to miss six to eight weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 plus oblique strain. The injury occurred while he was attempting to cover first base in Cleveland on May 28. The timeline would put Duffy on pace to return to the Royals after the All-Star break, which begins on July 10.
