SURPRISE, Ariz.
Chris Young emerged from the Royals dugout on early Sunday afternoon and began a slow walk to the bullpen down the left-field line here at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
He already had thrown two innings in his spring debut, allowing a run and three hits in the Royals’ 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. But as the bottom of the third began with right-hander Dillon Gee on the mound, Young headed to complete his scheduled regimen.
For close to eight minutes, Young worked through a short bullpen session, simulating eight pitches to bring his pitch count to 35, taking stock of his command in early March.
