Royals blast four home runs in 9-1 win over Chicago

The Royals put on a firework display at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday night, as the club smacked four home runs in route to a 9-1 win. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak.

Kansas City’s offense got things going quickly off Giolito in the top of the first. After singles by Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez, Ryan O’Hearn broke the scoreless tie on a sacrifice fly to right field — making it 1-0.

Following six shutout innings against the White Sox in his previous start, 24-year-old Carlos Hernandez took the ball with the tall task of carving up a team that he just faced.
