Ervin Santana hadn’t pitched in a major league game since last September, so all eyes were on his season debut.
But the Royals Danny Duffy is working on a comeback of his own.
Duffy’s third start since coming off the disabled list two weeks ago was his best. He didn’t get the victory but the Royals did, 3-2 over the Twins in walk-off fashion.
Lorenzo Cain opened the ninth with a five-pitch walk, and up stepped Eric Hosmer to face left-handed reliever Aaron Thompson.
Hosmer had been hitless when he drove a Thompson offering into the right field corner.
