Royals beat Brewers 3-2 as Ned Yost becomes winningest manager in club history

Ned Yost slung his left elbow along a dugout railing and propped his chin in his hand, like a baseball sculpture by Rodin, as tension simmered inside Kauffman Stadium. It was 9:33 p.m., and a game with the lowly Brewers hung in doubt. All around the park stood the 36,318 fans amassed here on Thursday night, clapping and attempting to will Wade Davis back to normalcy.

The Brewers had somehow loaded the bases against Davis in the eighth inning. His command was spotty. The tying run stood 90 feet away. And yet Yost betrayed no strain, no emotion, save for pacing in between pitches.
