The Kansas City Royals announced today they have signed left-handed pitcher Travis Wood to a two-year contract. Consistent with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Wood, 30, made a career-high 77 appearances with the Cubs last season, going 4–0 with a 2.95 ERA (20 ER in 64.0 IP). He stranded 86.5 percent of his inherited runners (32-of-37), the fifth-best mark in the National League. Wood held fellow left-handed batters to a .128 average (14-for-109), the second-best mark in the Majors (min. 100 lefties faced), and did not allow a hit or walk to the last 19 lefties he faced from Aug.
