Royals’ All-Star Vote Domination Is No Cause For Concern

Flash back with me to the dark days of 2006. The Royals were in the midst of their third straight 100-loss season, and fourth in five years. When All-Star selection time rolled around, Major League Baseball and that year’s AL manager, Ozzie Guillen, had a tough decision to make. Faced with the rule (a good one, in my opinion) that every team must be represented, but also faced with a Royals roster full of guys who had compiled a 26-52 record heading into July, they had to find someone to appear in Pittsburgh wearing royal blue.
