The Royals have agreed to terms with left-hander reliever Tim Collins, who missed all of 2015 because of Tommy John surgery, on a one-year contract worth $1.475 million. He will receive the same salary he earned last season.
Collins, 26, posted a 3.86 ERA in only 22 games in 2014. The organization will hang on to him to retain their bullpen depth, as key contributors from 2015 like Ryan Madson, Franklin Morales and Chris Young are all free agents.
Collins was eligible for arbitration, but not expected to receive a raise because of his lack of participation in the 2015 season.
