The Royals have activated pitcher Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list and optioned pitcher Brian Flynn to AAA Omaha. Young had been out since May 12 with a muscle tear in his forearm. Young had struggled this season after signing a two-year, $11.5 million contract to return with the Royals. In seven starts, he had a 6.68 ERA and despite just 32 1/3 innings pitched, he leads the American League with 13 home runs allowed. Young will move to the bullpen for now, having been replaced by Dillon Gee, but Ned Yost expects Young to return to the rotation eventually.
