KANSAS CITY -- Among other things, the 2015 season will be remembered as a year in which the Royals were great at the gate.
In the midst of the regular season home finale on Sunday, a 3-0 win over the Indians, the complete numbers rolled in and showed that Kansas City drew 2,708,549 through 81 dates at Kauffman Stadium. Sixty of the crowds topped 30,000, and the Royals averaged 33,439. The previous single-season attendance record of 2,477,700 was set in 1989.
"I've never experienced anything like this before," outfielder Paulo Orlando said. "The fans gave us great support all year long and that's very important to the players.
