NEW YORK -- Royals right fielder Alex Rios lost count of the number of outs in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday night, practically gifting the Mets a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning at Citi Field.
Rios camped under Curtis Granderson's one-out fly ball, made the catch and momentarily relaxed, clearly thinking it was the final out of the inning. He quickly saw Wilmer Flores sprint home from third base and made a desperation throw home, but it was too late.
The Royals believed Flores may have tagged up too soon, but didn't get the benefit of the doubt.
