Reliever Peter Moylan is close to signing a contract with the Atlanta Braves, the club that gave him his major-league start, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.
Moylan, 39, spent the last two seasons with the Royals, becoming a dependable right-handed specialist in the bullpen and well-liked personality among fans.
It was initially unclear whether Moylan’s deal with the Braves is a guaranteed major-league deal or a minor-league one.
Moylan, who is from Australia, initially signed with the Braves in 2006 after appearing in the World Baseball Classic that year. His story defied the odds.
