You’ve probably also heard that the Kansas City Royals called up Abraham Almonte, who they inexplicably signed last week for no apparent reason. Almonte has a career .680 OPS and 1.7 WAR over 302 games spent with the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, and Cleveland Indians. He’s almost 29 and pretty much the definition of a milquetoast replacement level outfielder.
