OAKLAND, Calif.
In a hat-tip-to-the-opponent kind of day, the Royals lost to the Athletics 5-3 on Saturday.
A’s starting pitcher Sonny Gray held the Royals in check for six innings, long enough for the A’s to construct a lead, grab the victory and at least momentarily change fortunes for both teams.
The Royals’ lost a four-game winning streak, with all games on the road. The A’s ended a four-game losing streak, all at home.
The series concludes Sunday.
Gray surrendered two runs, struck out six and overcome some sloppy defense, especially by second baseman Jed Lowrie.
