Royals manager Ned Yost fielded a few questions for the media on Saturday at Kauffman Stadium before the second matchup of a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles, following last night’s 9–2 victory.
Prior to today’s game, the Royals recalled Meibrys Viloria from Advanced-A Wilmington for his first Major League stint. Viloria hit .260 (93-for-358) in 100 games with the Blue Rocks this season and led the Carolina League in games caught (88) and catcher assists (86), while ranking third among qualifying catchers with 38 caught stealings in 92 tries (.412). When he plays for the first time, he will become the first Colombian-born player in Royals history.
