Royals manager Ned Yost met with the media prior to Wednesday night’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins.
The Royals placed reliever Blaine Boyer on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday with a right lower back strain. Trevor Oaks was recalled from Triple-A Omaha to fill the void in the bullpen.
Yost said it has been a struggle for Boyer (11.76 ERA in 20.2 IP) this season but knows the right-hander can be a productive piece to the bullpen when he’s right.
Boyer, who signed a minor-league contract with Kansas City in February, has been trying to pitch through foot and back problems throughout the season, according to Yost.
