Ned’s Notes: June 12

Royals manager Ned Yost fielded questions from the media on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium before the first game of a two-game set against the Cincinnati Reds.

Yost spoke fondly of Royals veterans Mike Moustakas, Salvador Perez and Alex Gordon, saying their fight and leadership are immeasurably important to the growth of the young players who watch them every day, despite the tough start to the season.

Following the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, Yost talked in great detail about his excitement for the future of this organization. He explained that Dayton Moore and the rest of the baseball operations department have a long history of drafting “winners,” and that he has enjoyed watching young pitchers Tim Hill, Scott Barlow and Brad Keller compete on the mound as they continue to develop.
