Royals Manager Ned Yost met with the media at Kauffman Stadium before Friday night’s contest against the Cleveland Indians.
Left-hander Richard Lovelady was recalled from Omaha today, and Ned said he hoped to would see a more aggressive approach from the reliever. Yost mentioned a conversation he had with Pitching Coach Cal Eldred, in which Cal told him that on some occasions young pitchers need to fail in the Majors and return to the Minors before they understand how to succeed in the big leagues. He spoke strongly about Lovelady’s recent performances and said he will keep learning as his rookie season continues.
