Royals manager Ned Yost met with the media prior to Monday’s series opener with the Seattle Mariners.
Yost is very encouraged by the progress catcher Salvador Perez has made in his recovery from a left knee sprain. The initial timeline for Perez’s return was set at 4–6 weeks, and Yost feels his All-Star catcher could be back closer to the four-week mark.
With the weather as cold as it has been, Yost praised his pitching staff for the way it performed and executed pitches over the five games in Detroit and Cleveland. The skipper said the ball felt like an ice cube when he held it during pitching changes.
