You’ve heard plenty about the Royals’ window of opportunity.
Following the 2017 season, a number of Royals will be free agents, including Eric Hosmer, Lorenzo Cain, Mike Moustakas, Danny Duffy and Alcides Escobar. Retaining them all will be a challenge beyond next season.
And some of those players will be line for pay increases in 2017 through arbitration.
Toby Cook, the Royals’ vice president for publicity, said that’s a big reason why ticket prices in most areas around Kauffman Stadium are increasing for next season.
“I don’t know a whole lot about the finances of a Major League Baseball club other than what I read,” Cook said, “but what they tell us over and over again, the money we make gets folded back into the team on the field.
