KANSAS CITY -- The Royals were without regular designated hitter Kendrys Morales on Sunday after Morales suffered a lower body bruise from being hit by a Kyle Crockett pitch in the eighth inning of Saturday's game against the Indians.
Morales took his base, but was quickly removed for pinch-runner Paulo Orlando with a 1-1 count. X-rays on Morales were negative and manager Ned Yost said Morales felt improvement by the time he reported to the ballpark Sunday morning.
