Sixty-seven years ago today, the greatest player in Royals history was born in a small town in West Virginia. He would move to California, grow a shaggy mop of hair, and would be selected in the second round of the 1971 draft by the young Kansas City Royals. Two pennants, a championship, three batting titles, and MVP, and 3,154 hits later, George Howard Brett would cement his place in baseball history as one of the all-time greats, earning a place in baseball immortality at Cooperstown.
MLB Network is taking a day to honor George with a complete day of Brett-centered programming.
