Omaha Storm Chasers
Up – Whit Merrifield – We are going on nearly a full season of AAA baseball for Merrifield (108 games) and he is still hitting, carrying a .333 average in his AAA games. That is amazing considering he was just a .263 hitter before arriving in Omaha. The Royals seem to have got from Whit what they thought they were getting out of South Carolina when they selected him during the 2010 draft. While I’ve never thought Whit could be a major league starter I have previously thought he could be a super-utility guy that can play a few outfield spots (mostly LF) and all the infield spots if you need him in a pinch at short.
