The Royals have recalled utility man Whit Merrifield from Triple-A Omaha. Merrifield will start in right field for Kansas City in its game against the Giants at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday night.
Merrifield was hitting .412 with three home runs and nine RBIs over his first nine games with Omaha. The 28-year old hit .283 with two home runs and 29 RBIs while playing five positions in the field over his first 81 games of Major League action for the Royals in 2016.
The Giants' remaining personnel who contributed to the team's 2014 World Series title doubtlessly will have some pleasant memories when San Francisco returns to Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium for the first time since that fabled Fall Classic.
