Sal Butera anticipated it coming.
With Salvador Perez leading off the 12th inning of Game 5 of the 2015 World Series with the score tied at 2–2, he told his wife that their son could have a shot at a historic moment if a few things went right.
First, Perez needed to get on base. Once he singled to right, Sal Butera figured Royals manager Ned Yost would pinch-run for Perez with Jarrod Dyson.
That meant Drew Butera would come in to catch in the bottom of the inning, and after the Royals scored five runs, it was almost a given he would be behind the plate when Kansas City clinched its second World Series title.
